CREATION AND INSPIRATION
Beata Haltof is an artist who combines her artworks with iron and plastics.
Her inspiration comes from materials that are essential for our lives. These materials are used in many human fields, from construction to the automotive industry. However, the artist is interested in things that have already served their purpose and are now useless. Here, we can find a parallel with many prominent photographers or with one of the most important contemporary Czech sculptors, Čestmír Suška, who in the past presented technical metal tanks that he cut open and let the waste leave imprints on paper.
They all work with the phenomenon of rust. Each in a different way, but they are united by a fascination with the reddish-brown coating that forms on the surface of iron objects. This coating consists of hydrated iron(III) oxide (Fe₂O₃·nH₂O), or possibly FeO(OH), Fe(OH)₃, which form due to the effect of a moist environment and oxygen.
